Dr. Michael Telias is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, Neuroscience and Visual Sciences at the Flaum Eye Institute, University of Rochester Medical Center. He is a member of the Center for Visual Science, where he serves as the Co-Director for the Imaging Module. 

Dr. Telias obtained his B.Sc. in Medical Sciences and M.Sc. in Medical Neurobiology from the Hadassah Medical School at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and his Ph.D. in Cell & Developmental Biology from the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, Israel. As a doctoral student, he pioneered the use of human stem cells in the study of cognitive impairment and autism (Fragile X Syndrome). As a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley, he investigated the molecular and cellular mechanisms behind inner retinal remodeling in degenerative blinding diseases.

Dr. Telias has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed articles, published abstracts, reviews and book chapters. He serves as reviewer and guest editor for internationally-recognized publications, including Journal of Neuroscience, Neuron, Science Advances, and more. He has delivered dozens of oral and poster presentations in national and international scientific meetings and holds an international patent.
